Photo & Video

Modern video tapes are all contained in some kind of container known as a cassette. These provide protection of the tape and the convenience of automatic loading and unloading of the tape. Traditional 'open reel' tapes required the threading of the tape past guides prior to being able to read the tape. In all cases the tape records the data in the form of changes of magnetic polarity on magnetic tape.
